故事發(fā)生在1933年的英國(guó)，聲名遠(yuǎn)揚(yáng)的大偵探波洛（約翰·馬爾科維奇 John Malkovich 飾）收到了一封匿名信件，寄信者在信件里預(yù)言了三場(chǎng)謀殺，并且給出了線索。雖然波洛報(bào)了警，但警方并沒有太重視這封匿名信。果不其然，兇殺案發(fā)生了，名字以“A”和“B”開頭的兩位被害人均被以信件中所描述的方式殺死。波洛明白自己必須開始和時(shí)間賽跑，去拯救唯一的那一位名字以“C”開頭的幸存者。之后，波洛又陸續(xù)收到了幾封內(nèi)容相似的匿名信，可是當(dāng)他著手調(diào)查這一切事件背后的真相時(shí)，卻屢屢遭到阻攔，只有克羅姆警探（魯伯特·格林特 Rupert Grint 飾）堅(jiān)定的站在波洛偵探這一邊。
