本部紀錄片是導(dǎo)演邁克爾·艾普特從1964年開始拍攝的紀錄片系列的第三部。邁克爾·艾普特在1964年為英國BBC電視臺拍攝了記錄片《7 Up》，采訪來自英國不同階層的十四個七歲的小孩子，他們有的來自孤兒院有的是上層社會的小孩。此后每隔七年，艾普特都會重新采訪當(dāng)年的這些孩子，傾聽他們的夢想，暢談他們的生活。正值青春年華的孩子們，已經(jīng)長到21歲。當(dāng)年導(dǎo)演的初衷是批判英國社會階層的不可改變性，窮人的孩子還是窮人，富人的孩子還是富人。在時隔數(shù)十年之后，這一點初得印證。可生命的無償又豈會就此止步。 　　本部系列紀錄片，跨越半個世紀，史無前例地記錄了真人版的“人生七年”。
